      Hello Molliee !

I am not sure, but I imagine it’s very due to very complicated combinations of things. Firstly, we all have different genes. Secondly, our environment and our upbringing affect our personality. People’s personalities change all the time throughout their lives. Everyone’s different, which is good – it’d be quite boring if everyone was the same!

Having different personalities means that people behave in slightly different ways. Scientists think we can summarise personalities using 5 different description. How introvert/extrovert are you, how conscientious are you, how agreeable are you, how neurotic are you, and how open are you to new experiences? Have a look online and you can find tests of your own personality. THe personality you have depends on the genes you inherited from your parents, and also the experiences you have during your life, although personality tends to be stable during the lifetime. In other words, extroverted children tend to become extroverted adults and so on.

INterestingly, animals seem to have personalities too. Some animals are very bold and fearless, others are shy and conservative.
