There isn’t much work on this as far as I know, simply because it is a very contentious issue. For example, if we find out that one particular group of people is better (or worse) “adapted” to today’s environments than others, then that will automatically lead to issues of racism and discrimination. So people prefer not to make too many predictions (which may as well turn out ot be wrong). One thing though – people have been getting taller and taller in the last few hundred years, so perhaps humans are evolving into giants?
Sorry to butt in but this is an amazing question and has had my office talking all day! Do you think there will be super humans in the future? I would love to be able to run really fast! There is so much of the human brain that is not used there must be things we should be able to do but just don’t have the correct connections at the moment.
I’m not sure how much they discuss genetic or biological evolution, but there is a group of thinkers called “transhumanists” who discuss how future technologies might be able to make humans do much more than they can now. I don’t know much about them, but you can read on Wikipedia:
