I wish I knew an easy answer, but alas it seems to me that the only way is to try and cut down on distractions as much as possible and get on with your work. You just need lots of will power or motivation. There are probably good little techniques that can be employed, though – when I was writing my thesis I banned myself from using facebook at work. I found I got a lot more work done when I wasn’t idly checking my facebook every 20 minutes.
I don’t think there is an easy way, and infact I work better when I can have a distraction. If not better then for longer, because I don’t become massively bored. I usually do work in 50 minute bursts with 10 minutes spent randomly checking the internet. Although sometimes it is more the over way round.
