A good question. I think it depends on how you look at it. From a human point of view, thinks look a bit bad. Climate change, over-population, lack of resources etc. will likely only get worse. I do not think it is all doom and gloom though, we can deal with these problems if we start doing something about them.
If you look at it from a general point of view, then the Earth will be fine. Even if we do raise temperatures and kill off ourselves and most other species, some life will survive, and evolution will start up again. That is the beauty of life, once it is here it is hard to get rid of!
I wouldn’t worry about things too much, there is still plenty of time to deal with any human issues.
I agree with Steven. The earth itself is completely fine, but the earth as it relates to us isn’t – we do have a lot of problems because we shaped the earth and its atmosphere to turn against us. And like Steve said, this isn’t the end of days but we do need to think about making an effort to maintain a liveable planet.
I agree with Steven too. From a human point we are doing a pretty poor job of it at the moment. But from a scientific point of view the Earth is amazing! So far it is the only place in the universe where life exists and there is a wide variety of life. I think it’s fantastic!
