Question: what do you think of text speak?

It can be useful, and there is no harm in it as long as you are using it when communicating with someone else who also understands it and it’s an appropriate place. But you should also remember that a lot of older people (like me, a lot of the time!) find it difficult to read. It’s like any part of language: you have to think about who you are communicating with and what sort of language would be best.
