I don’t believe in God, but I think that most Christians would say that the Bible creation myth is not meant to be taken as literal truth. Besides, many different religions have come up with many different stories about the way the world came into being, and they all tend to be different. I don’t really understand why, if you take them to be literally true, you would prefer one to the other. But then as I say I don’t believe in God and am completely happy to accept that there is something I’ve missed.

As for the Big Bang, I think many physicists aren’t sure about it, but it is currently the theory that best fits the evidence.

There is a lot of evidence to support the big bang theory, which makes it look as though it is going to end up being correct.

As Sam says, I do not think most people think you should take the bible literally, it is more of a guide to living than a history book. I do not believe in a God, and if I did I think he would have been much cooler if he had have caused thins like the big bang.

I’m not an expert on the big bang but like many scientists I think it will probably turn out to be more or less correct. I do believe in God but I don’t believe he made the earth in 6 days. I read the first chapter of Genesis of metaphorical rather than literal. In fact, the Bible itself is not even consistent on how the earth was created so I don’t think it is meant to be literally true.

I know nothing about big bang really, but like the others I have full confidence in the researchers who work on it. And like the others I don’t believe that God made the world in 6 days. The bible itself says that time is pretty relative for God. Somewhere it says that a day is like 1000 days for God, which I take to mean that time is irrelevant him/her/it.
